Foreword and Introduction to The Light Congress

Foreword: March 23, 2025

Hi all, welcome to The Light Congress. This is the journal of my explorations into the other worlds of the spirit and a record of the messages, knowledge and wisdom from the beings I interacted with there.

I’m not going to waste your time with this new foreword. This is just a note to say I’m greatly concerned about how life is proceeding out there in the wide world.

What do we do about it? Do the best you can, wherever you are, with your talents and gifts. And be kind to one another.

On my end, I’ve started a new project called, “The Dark Congress”. We shall see where that leads.

But in the meantime, please enjoy The Light Congress: A Messenger’s Journal.

Thanks for reading. -Heidi

A badger and snake fight over a cosmic egg in an ethereal, fantasy-like setting.
A badger and a snake fight over an egg.

Introduction

My journey began with a vision.

I saw a badger and a snake, fighting over an egg. They circled and spun, shadows dancing across my waking consciousness. Then the animals fought. The badger struck out with his claws and the snake with his fangs. The badger triumphed. He lifted the egg in his claws and swallowed it whole.

This happened in my mind’s eye again and again.  I saw the badger and snake fighting in mirrors, windows, any surface that could reflect light.

At first, I sought Western medicine to heal my, as I saw it, broken mind. They gave me mood-altering medicine and the recurring vision of the badger and snake faded. I spent some time in a mental institution with others who saw a version of reality that existed only in their own minds and I came out of the experience terrified I was going insane.

I came to learn through my participation in the mental health care system that Western medicine, such as it was, had no answer for what was happening to me. What meaning, they opined through their obsession with the known and observable world, could be drawn from the fevered imaginings of a malfunctioning brain. I was repeatedly medicated or talked into silence and acceptance of the prevailing, nightmarish, collective view of society which has very little room for dreamers or mystics, calling them mad or fraudulent or, worse, dangerous.

Throughout this dark time, I couldn’t shake the feeling there was more to what I had seen and experienced than a simple biological illness. It felt like a calling from something larger than myself, a spiritual awakening. If that was the case, I would answer the call. But how?

I decided to seek the meaning of the vision on my own while working as a librarian at a public library. Through my studies, I discovered a reoccurring life pattern of visionary mystics throughout time and in every corner of the earth who used ancient systems of meditation and rituals to travel into other realities. Once there, they found and recorded hidden information about existence and reality itself.

No matter which culture they were born into or system they used to access this other mode of consciousness, generally they were called to the mystic life path by initiatory visions, just like the one I had experienced. They called themselves magicians, shamans, priests and priestesses, mystics, ascetics, alchemists, witches, pagans, qabalists and other names of arcane significance that I didn’t even understand.

If there was an answer to what my vision meant, I came to believe I would find it there in the worlds of magic and hidden knowledge, the same place I surmised the vision had emerged from. I would ask the one who sent it to me why they sent it or, barring that, discover what the symbolism meant so that I would no longer be haunted by information from beyond that I didn’t understand.

I would become one who knew and understood multi-dimensional reality rather than a blindfolded aspirant to the greater mysteries who was talked into accepting others’ worldviews rather than embodying my own unique point of consciousness. It was a simple plan and I set about finding a way to make this dream a reality.

I carefully studied new age books about meditation, astral projection, remote viewing, any out-of-body experience that I could get my hands on and eventually synthesized various teachings to create a personal method to use tarot cards as gateways into other realms.

My breakthrough came when I read from one secretive magical group from the last century about possible associations between two key systems (the Tree of Life and tarot cards) and, through a quiet inner voice that came to me during that formative period of my life, how to combine the two to create a map of sorts through the other worlds by creating unique doorways in my imagination and then a meditative ritual that took my consciousness so deeply into my spirit that I could literally step through the doors.

I find it difficult to communicate the surprise I felt the first time I moved through a gate constructed in my mind and found myself in another world. The spirits I encountered therein spoke to me through words and images, and I came back out of the doorway with my entire worldview turned on its head. The other worlds were as real as my waking one and they contained spirits and intelligences who could and would communicate with me if I only desired it.

In that moment, my magnum opus became more than a simple quest to interpret my initiatory vision of the Badger and Snake. I believed I had stumbled upon the reason I was born in this time and place, and how I could help improve the world through my mere existence.

I would bring back mysteries from the Inner Worlds and share this knowledge with others who sought it in the Outer Worlds, a task that would be far more difficult than I had imagined but one which I swore I would pursue until my dying breath and then perhaps even beyond that.

What follows in this journal is a true account of what I learned through my many journeys, dreams and visions into the Tree of Life, and I give this message to you in the spirit it was given to me.

First Steps

In my explorations, I found the spirits I encountered were sometimes helpful, other times not, and in the farthest reaches, very powerful. Those who existed in other worlds are a part of the traveler’s own subconscious mind but also simultaneously outside of it, existing in a reality of their own that can be accessed by anyone at any time.

If you have ever had a daydream, I’d like to congratulate you for traveling to these other worlds too if only for a brief period of time. What did you experience there?

Furthermore, these otherworldly beings are the archetypes described by Carl Jung, the gods and goddesses whose exploits are written about in mythologies and religions the world over. They are the fairies, the goblins, spirits, ghosts, angels, demons, monsters, elementals and elves and so much more. They are the genesis of all of the legends and fairytales that have been or will ever be told.

Every story has its roots in these other worlds. Some say that the stories are echoes of events that actually took place long ago in the Inner Realms or will take place in the future, trickling down through layers of reality and time to the one world that everyone walks through during their lives, which I call the ‘waking world’. The Inner Realms themselves have been called the Dreamtime, the Astral Planes, the Collective Unconscious, Fairyland, Shambhala, Heaven, Hell, and countless other names which can be found in religions, dreams and, of course, stories.

All life whether sentient or not comes from these worlds and returns to them in time. They are the realms of the spirit and form a basis and countless patterns for how nature unfolds in daily life with or without humanity’s attention to it. These worlds are the home of universal truth and whatever your personal vision is of God.

I cannot stress enough how illuminatory the spirits from the Inner Realms have been in my life in ways that I didn’t even realize at first and am still discovering as my existence unfolds. The beings taught me about spirituality and real magic; they healed portions of my psyche which I didn’t even know were damaged. They showed me future events, past events, events that could take place or not depending upon how the waking world chooses to move through the dance of existence.

They gave me access to a language of spiritual experience that crosses all boundaries and barriers though what this particular secret meant only became clear to me through the passage of time. They taught me that I contain worlds.

The purpose of this journal is not only to preserve this message for all time but to tell you, the reader, in case you do not know or have forgotten, you contain these worlds and are part of this legacy of mystical illumination too. Please remember you are an entirely unique part of a mysterious interconnected system of spirit, the exploration of which is vitally important to the greater good of humankind and all living creatures.

Existence is never meaningless, there is a reason you were born and you will know one day what this reason is. Whether you came to this time and place to make art, advances in science or technology, raise a family, work in medicine, serve your country or God, whatever it is, there is something you and only you will contribute to the waking world and, if you find this secret purpose, you will leave this existence in a better place than you found it.

Don’t worry if you don’t remember or believe this truth yet, I will hold it in my mind and heart for you until, one day, it becomes as true for you as it is for me. I invite you to learn from these spirits and mystical experiences as I did and find your purpose.

I hope my journal helps you understand the universal truths and patterns not only to help you in your search for your magnum opus but also to stand as a testament and series of gates for future mystics who may need a torch to light their path through the shadows. This journal is a map, my personal map through the Inner Worlds. Use it if you wish to do so; I certainly did and I will never be the same.

One final thought before we begin the task of journeying inwards, I have come to believe the Badger and Snake appeared to me so that I could give this message of hope and universal love to you from the worlds of spirit and the one who put the stars in motion.

Whatever winding path has brought you to these pages is your personal vision, your own Badger and Snake, and your unique message to share with the world. We are all messengers, it is only incumbent upon us to decide whose words we share through our lives and deeds. Choose carefully.

May I be the first to welcome you to The Light Congress. Welcome home.

Mining the Subconscious Mysteries

Gate: Ten of Pentacles

I stepped through the vision gate and found myself surrounded by mists. As the mist cleared, I saw a crowd of gnomes with pointed red caps digging with fierce enthusiasm.

They were confined in the quarry by stone walls which rose high around us. No trees or plants were visible as anything green or growing had been destroyed by the never-ceasing industry of the gnomes.
